Captain Robert McClinnis is more than just a fishing guide. He is a storyteller, teacher, and lifelong outdoorsman whose passion for fishing shows on every trip. Now operating out of Carrabelle, FL, Captain Robert brings over two decades of guiding experience, local knowledge, and genuine Southern hospitality to Florida Gulf Coast Charter Fishing.
His journey to the helm started with an unforgettable fishing trip to the Florida Keys. While aboard a party boat, Robert helped a young teenager land a massive 40-inch lemon shark. Seeing that excitement and pride sparked something bigger. He realized his true passion was not only catching fish, but helping others experience the same joy on the water.
Since 2005, Captain Robert has guided thousands of anglers through the productive waters of Florida’s Forgotten Coast. Based in Carrabelle, he gives guests access to the Gulf of America, where inshore, nearshore, and offshore fishing opportunities are all within reach. His knowledge of local waters, fish movement, tides, and seasonal patterns helps guests target popular species such as red snapper, gag grouper, mahi, sea bass, mango snapper, redfish, sea trout, cobia, and more.
Captain Robert runs a 24-foot Scout Bay boat powered by a 200-horsepower Yamaha engine. Built for both comfort and performance, the boat is well-suited for fishing inshore flats, nearshore structure, and offshore waters when conditions allow. With quality gear, safety equipment, and room for small groups and families, it is a dependable platform for anglers of all experience levels.
What makes Captain Robert stand out is not only what he catches, but how he guides. He enjoys teaching guests how to fish with artificial lures, read the water, understand bait movement, and recognize the difference between a light tap and a solid bite. His calm attitude and patient approach make him a favorite among kids, parents, and first-time anglers, while experienced fishermen appreciate his instincts and local knowledge.
From helping young anglers land their first fish to putting guests on hard-fighting Gulf of America species, Captain Robert creates trips that turn into lasting memories. He offers customizable fishing charters, family-friendly outings, and seasonal scalloping adventures designed around each group’s goals and comfort level.
For Captain Robert McClinnis, fishing is not just a job. It is a way of life. Every time he leaves the dock, he brings the same passion, skill, and dedication that started his career and continues to define Florida Gulf Coast Charter Fishing today.
If you are looking to fish Carrabelle, FL with a trusted local guide who knows the waters and loves helping people make memories, Captain Robert McClinnis is ready to take you there.
